The study, performed by Army wife Judith Black, who conducted the research for her doctoral degree, surveyed 10 Army officers’ wives involved in volunteer roles in family readiness groups linked to units led by toxic leaders.
“The effects of toxic leadership flow into the marriage and home life of those who experience it,” Black said.
The 10 women told Black that their husbands’ experiences with bad leadership left them feeling helpless, angry, frustrated, depressed and worried for their spouse’s well-being.
