Islamic State ‘Magazine,’ – Dabiq – Claims It Could Transport a Nuclear Weapon From Nigeria Into The United States — From Mexico

Edwin Mora, writing on the June 3, 2015 edition of the website, Breitbart, notes that the Islamic State, in the latest edition of its propaganda magazine — Dabiq — “indicated it could purchase a nuclear weapon in Pakistan, take it to Nigeria, and then smuggle it into the U.S. through Mexico — by using existing trafficking networks in Latin America.”

“In an Op-Ed, published in the ninth edition of the Islamic State Dabiq Magazine, released in late May,” Mr. Mora writes, “the jihadist group claims it could transport a nuclear device in the same way illicit drugs are smuggled into Europe and West Africa, adding Boko Haram’s presence in Nigeria could facilitate the transaction.”

Mr. Mora reminds us that “in March, Gen. John Kelly, then Commander of U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), warned that terrorist groups such as the Islamic State, “could exploit capabilities and knowledge of Latin American smuggling groups — to infiltrate the U.S. through Mexico; and, possibly bring in weapons of mass destruction (WMD).”

“According to the alleged author of the Dabiq Op-Ed, article, kidnapped British photojournalist John Cantlie, the Islamic State could smuggle a nuke into the U.S. by using the same route [as Latin American drug smugglers], and reversing the flow — moving the nuclear weapon from West Africa — to South America, from where it then could be transported to the Untied States through Mexico.” “Let me throw out a hypothetical,” Mr. Cantlie wrote in an article entitled, “The Perfect Storm.” “The Islamic State has billions of dollars in the bank, so they call on their wilayah [province] in Pakistan to purchase a nuclear device through weapons dealers with links to corrupt officials in the region,” he added.

“The weapon is then transported over land until it makes it to Libya, where the mujahidin [fighters] move it south to Nigeria. Drug shipments to Columbia bound for Europe — pass through West Africa, so moving other types of contraband from East to West — is just as possible. The nuke and the accompanying mujahidin arrive on the shorelines of South America…and transported through the porous borders of Central America…before arriving in Mexico; and, up to the border with the United States.”

“From there, it’s just a quick hop through a smuggling tunnel, and hey presto, they’re mingling with another 12 million ‘illegal’ aliens in America — with a nuclear bomb in in the trunk of a car,” he wrote. “If not a nuke, the ISIS could easily smuggle in a “few thousand tons of ammonium nitrate explosive,” that is easy to manufacturer,” the article said.

Balderdash! Hyperbolic poppycock. Yes, probably both of those. But, much as Osama bin Laden wanted to see his faithful carry out of a major terrorist attack against the United States — and, did so on September 11, 2001 — the Islamic State would love nothing more than to orchestrate the explosion of some kind of WMD weapon — inside the U.S. — most likely at one of our major ports such as Long Beach or Los Angeles, or in the heart of the financial district in New York City. Make no mistake; and, don’t underestimate their desire, and determination to bring their fight, and their ‘special’ brand of evil — right here to the homeland. A major reason that we need to be killing every last one of them
